Student Code of Conduct

As a learning community, we uphold shared commitments that protect safety, honor the depth of this work, and support an environment where everyone can grow. These agreements reflect the standards of trauma-informed care, cultural humility, and ethical practice required in Colorado and Oregon’s natural medicine frameworks.

1. Commitment to Safety

We agree to:

  • Hold client and community safety as our top priority

  • Maintain strong personal and professional boundaries

  • Practice within trauma-informed, non-directive frameworks

  • Reach out for supervision, support, or referral when needed

  • Communicate concerns promptly and respectfully

We recognize that safety is collaborative and essential for everyone involved.

2. Emotional Maturity and Self-Regulation

We agree to:

  • Engage with feedback and learning with openness

  • Take responsibility for our own emotional regulation

  • Seek appropriate support outside the classroom when personal issues arise

  • Approach challenging material with respect and groundedness

We understand that this field requires steadiness, humility, and continual self-reflection.

3. Professional Conduct

We agree to:

  • Communicate respectfully and honestly

  • Arrive on time and prepared for classes, intensives, and discussions

  • Complete assignments with integrity

  • Honor confidentiality around classmates, clients, and case material

  • Uphold the ethical expectations of Colorado and Oregon licensure standards

We participate in a professional training community and treat our shared spaces with care.

4. Boundaries and Scope of Practice

We agree to:

  • Honor our personal qualifications and never step outside our scope

  • Avoid diagnosis, interpretation, or therapeutic claims unless licensed

  • Keep client work non-directive and client-centered

  • Recognize when to pause, refer out, or seek consultation

We hold clear boundaries as a necessary part of ethical facilitation.

5. Cultural Humility and Respect

We agree to:

  • Engage cross-cultural material with humility and accuracy

  • Avoid appropriation, misrepresentation, or romanticization of Indigenous traditions

  • Reflect on our own biases, assumptions, and privileges

  • Honor lineages, cultures, and histories with respect

We contribute to a field where cultural care, reverence, and honesty matter.

6. Ethical Motivation

We agree to:

  • Approach this work from a place of service rather than status

  • Avoid savior dynamics, spiritual bypassing, or ego-driven behavior

  • Recognize the vulnerability of clients and peers

  • Let the client’s process lead rather than our personal beliefs or agendas

We understand that ethical motivation is foundational to safe practice.

7. Accountability and Integrity

We agree to:

  • Take responsibility for our choices and impacts

  • Engage in repair when misunderstandings or harms occur

  • Communicate clearly when challenges arise

  • Follow program guidelines and uphold community agreements

We recognize that accountability strengthens our community and our work.
